Work-Life Balance Tips
Work-Life Balance Tips
In today’s busy world, it’s no wonder that many people find themselves struggling to maintain relationships with friends and family while simultaneously balancing a demanding job. That being said, work-life balance is essential when trying to maintain a happy lifestyle.
Here are a few tips on how to achieve this balance:
1) Be Social
Commit yourself body and soul into your friendships with the people you know you can count on in times of need.
2) Look for Moments of Joy
Find time throughout your day during which you can feel good: meditate before bed, exercise in the morning, journal about positive things that have happened recently.
3) Don’t Try to Do it All
If you are feeling overwhelmed, prioritize what is most important and don’t expect yourself to do everything. Not everyone can right away but as soon as you can, TRY to get some help in your business or life. Whether it be hiring or outsourcing busy work, getting someone to help around the house/with cooking/meal planning, or something else, make sure you have support!
4) Get Enough Sleep
Sleep is extremely important for our bodies and minds. It refreshes us and gives us the energy we need throughout the day. Set app timers and a bedtime timer on your phone to make sure you can “unplug” in time for a restful night. Take naps if you have a sleepless night but try to get into a routine in general!
5) Find a Work-Life Balance that Works for You
No matter how many tips you read, this will remain a personal journey. Anything you read online or hear from others can only help you build the path toward work life balance and a happy life, but it can’t fully build it for you. You have to do the work and customize it for YOU!
6) Connect & Help
Ask people out on dates, visit them in the hospital or share photos, give away your hard earned money to those less fortunate than you are. Make sure that your contributions to society reflect positively on you as a person.
7) Look for the Good in Every Situation
There is always good in every situation. Don’t focus on the negative and learn to let bad situations roll off your back. Easier said than done, but gratitude meditations can help a LOT with this. It is a mindset shift for some, but I promise an optimistic mindset will take you far in life!
8) Stop and Smell the Roses
Take time out of your day to do something that you enjoy during your work day or career. Planning helps a lot with this, I have been using Asana as a digital planning tool and Silk & Sonder as more of a life planner.
9) Breathe Deeply
When you find yourself flustered about a problem, take a deep breath and meditate on it for a few minutes. By doing this, you will be able to clear your mind long enough to think clearly about how to tackle your issue.
10) Love Yourself
Sounds simple and cliche, but it’s easier said than done. Focus on loving yourself for who you are and what you can do. Appreciate yourself and treat yourself how you would treat your dearest friend. If you love yourself, everything else will fall into place.
Those are all great tips Jen. Some are great reminders for me. Thanks!
